Dear whoever:

Should you ever for any reason (god forbid) be in a situation where you are posting an "Anyone with any information about {X}, please let me know" message in a public forum:
  • list their last name
  • list their first name
  • list their address
  • if you can't, list the nearest intersection, section of the city, zip code, or what have you
  • failing that, mention the city
  • if you have their phone number, consider a reverse lookup to get their address
  • give your contact information
  • check your spelling--I don't know which of the three you used is correct
  • add a follow-up post if they're found[1]
  • did I mention the whole name and address thing?

I realize you'll be stressed and upset. I won't hold it against you if you fail to do this. But you're much more likely to get a helpful response if you do.

[1] Promotes happy noises in people doing data entry. OTOH, the "I met a guy named Joseph on the ferry, I hope he's okay" is just... not... working.
