Just got around to checking my credit card statement, and am displeased.

I met Larry Elmore at Marcon. He was amazingly cool.

I ordered one of his prints during the whatever-that-holiday-was sale after Marcon--a poster-size (19" x 27") limited-edition lithograph of "Close Combat", which you can see here (I fell kind of hard for the combination of warm and cool colours).

And there was some weirdness with the order--apparently I'd mistyped the expiry year of my credit card. There were two calls made to sort it out. Apparently there was also an error on his office's end, because I got two copies of the litho. (At least I am assuming that is the case. I got two long thin triangular-cross-section FedEx packages with identical invoices[1] on two different days, and one of them definitely contains "Close Combat". I haven't opened the second for reasons of convenience which should soon become obvious.)

The thing is, I only paid for one. I just checked my statements. I'd assumed that an error had duplicated my order and resulted in two charges, two shipments. That would've been inconvenient, but okay.

One charge, two shipments, means I have taken possession of some fraction of the estimable Mr. Elmore's property and livelihood without (a) his informed permission or (b) having paid for it. That is not okay.

So, having nailed down the business number, I will call tomorrow during the day. Not sure if they're open then or not, but hopefully I can at least leave a message and ask them to call back on Monday.

[1] The fact that having an invoice with Larry Elmore's signature on it makes me grin is probably a handy indication of how much of a fan-girl I'm being.
