I hear no value is higher than self-esteem. And apparently the hope that said self-esteem doesn't lead to applying for paying work they are not qualified for and getting people killed--well, that's asking someone to limit their chance for profit for your own benefit. Total mark of a cannibal and all.

The John Galt Corporation (having never really done much of anything, and being unqualified for what it did) was fired for failing to "live up to terms of its contract with respect to site supervision, maintenance and project safety" while demolishing a building damaged on 9/11.

So there was much general incompetence, a little deceiving of site inspectors, a worker who managed to drop a 300-pound hand-operated forklift 23 stories on two firefighters and a construction worker, and a fire that killed two firefighters in the building they were supposed to be demolishing.

By all accounts, the sign of the dollar was not displayed at the funerals.

*headesk*

I know a bit about how smooth-talking or -writing folks can slip things past poorly-calibrated bullshit detectors, but the stories are sadly confidential.

I understand. I wish I had a little more on the Department of Investigation's recommendation to *not* hire John Galt, and why the LMDC (http://www.renewnyc.com/AboutUs/index.asp) hired them anyway.
