STATUS EDIT
Order placed - 23/1/2008
(no CnS)
Order received - 25/2/2008

So. BPAL.

When I said I'd organize a group order, I didn't realize I'd promised to do so on the day the Lunacies were coming out. Given that organizing small and slightly fiddly details is somewhat relaxing, and that there is no way on God's green earth that the BPAL oils will get to me before the move so decanting and distributing them should be a relaxing post-move activity[1], I am obviously going for a decant circle as well, was going for a decant circle, but dropped it.

I'm not going over the twelve-item limit[2] that sets shipping from BPAL at $11, though I will keep ordering additional bottles of the Lunacy oils as long as people keep asking. (I am certain that there will not be enough demand for over nine bottles of the Lunacies. :) )

*cracks knuckles*

Fiddly details
I'm placing the order on January the 23rd. Payment before ordering is great, but worst case, I do need to get paid before I hand over/mail you your oils.
All prices in $US.
Paypal's probably easiest all around; [livejournal.com profile] torrain at rogers dot com. And if you could add $0.25 to help take a bite out of those damnable fees, I'd really appreciate it.
If you can't meet me and arrange for a pickup (Ottawa), I'll have to mail you your stuff. For imps, shipping in Canada is $2; for the US, $2.50; for elsewhere, $4.
If you order a bottle, and can't meet me for a pickup (again, Ottawa), shipping covers any imps you get and any number of bottles, and includes coverage for the parcels. It runs:
* $7 to $10 for Canada ($7 for ON and QC; $8.50 for MB, NB, NS, PEI, and SK; $10 for AB, BC, NL, NWT, NU, and YT)[3]
* $7.50 for the States
* $9 for elsewhere
Decants mailed in bubble wrap, with taped caps, in small plastic baggies, in padded mailers. Imps from the Lab I was thinking I wouldn't bother taping the caps, but I will if you're more comfortable that way.
$3.50 for an imp of Moon of Ice, $4 for an imp of Pisces 2008 (I understand decant circles usually get six out of a bottle, so they will be a little less than 1 ml each, 'cause those are 5 ml bottles). $1.75 for a half-imp of Moon of Ice, and $2 for a half-imp of Pisces 2008.
[livejournal.com profile] bpal_feedback's here. Torrain on the forums, but only one feedback as a buyer there yet; I mostly just stop by occasionally and post reviews.
I can't think of anything else.

[1] No, seriously. And I have mail forwarding from Canada Post and everything already set up.
[2] 12 imps = 1 item. 1 bottle = 1 item. ATM, room for seven and a half more items.
[3] I hate that it costs more to ship in Canada than abroad, but there's no Small Packets service within Canada and I can't fit a 5ml bottle into Oversized Lettermail. If you know someone who's local and who will be making a trip to see you, I'm happy to relay the BPAL through them. And if you can tell me of a cheaper shipping option that I can reliably use, I will send you whatever you ordered for free.

Could I get a breakdown of the extra $10 on my total, since I assume it's for shipping from BPAL and other bits?
Monday, January 21st, 2008 04:31 pm (UTC)
Typo/thinko! Fixed. (I was thinking $25 + $15 for the bottles is $40, plus $20 for the imps is $60, minus $0.50 means that number ends in $9.50. I'm really sorry for the mistake.)

I don't charge shipping on group orders, except what it costs to resend stuff if you can't do a pickup.
Monday, January 21st, 2008 04:37 pm (UTC)
Oh! Ha! I just wanted the breakdown because I'm neurotic and have never done this before, but it turns out asking got me $10 off. Win!

Anyway, it's totally fine. I'm grateful you're even doing this at all, considering all the moving stuff you have to handle. :)
Monday, January 21st, 2008 04:39 pm (UTC)
Heh. I really do figure that the order will come in after the move, and sorting stuff'll be relaxing.

(I think I'll include the mathy breakdowns in the post itself now. Will give me another chance to triple-check my numbers.)
Monday, January 21st, 2008 04:45 pm (UTC)
Hopefully! Some R&R would be nice for you. :)
Monday, January 21st, 2008 07:59 pm (UTC)
Aw, CRAP! If I'd known you were gonna do a decant circle I would've waited. I've already signed up and paid for another. :(
Monday, January 21st, 2008 08:06 pm (UTC)
It was kind of an impulse thing. No worries.
Tuesday, January 22nd, 2008 01:48 am (UTC)
Next time I'll wait and see if you're doing one.

(I looooove this Lunacy. Lunar Eclipse sounds AMAZING.)
Tuesday, January 22nd, 2008 02:41 am (UTC)
*grin* I'll let you know.

Currently I'm waffling between another imp pack or a bottle. On the one hand, another imp pack lets me try out a bunch of things, such as pretty much all the Arkham scents I haven't tried yet. On the other hand, the Music of Erich Zann is absolutely gorgeous. But I have an imp. But I know I'll like it. But I'll be getting a ton of imps anyway, and there'll be some good stuff in there.

Eh. I'll flip a coin, or something. :)

(It's weird. This is the second night in a row I've tested two scents (one on each wrist), and the second night in a row that the GC's worked and the LE hasn't. Good for my budget, at least.)

...and then, of course, I test something the Lab hasn't made since *2004,* and fell for it really hard.

It's Carnivàle (http://www.bpal.org/index.php?showtopic=31). It's lovely.

I am never going to get my hands on another bottle or decant of this in my *life.*
Tuesday, January 22nd, 2008 05:18 am (UTC)
Wow, it sounds lovely.

I'm still trying to decide if I want in on the group order...most likely yes, but at the same time the updates have taken a major chunk out of my bank account. Give me another day to make up my mind. :)
Tuesday, January 22nd, 2008 05:24 am (UTC)
Take your time, I completely understand. Honestly, I probably wouldn't be doing it myself if February wasn't when my credit card gave me the cashback points for the year. :)

I figure what I'll do is come home on Wednesday, swear and fret about the house, pack some of the last of the books, and put in the order sometime after I watch Torchwood.

(Which, by the way, is kind of merrily continuing last season's "Due to overcrowding in the subtext, dramatic and sexual tension will be occurring in the text itself." Have you seen it yet?)
Monday, January 21st, 2008 08:40 pm (UTC)
Question: Did you end up getting all the spots in your Red Phoenix decant filled? If you didn't, I'll sign up for an imp of it as well.

So tempted to jump on the group order wagon, but I think I'll wait until a date closer to to the summer.

On a side note: If you know anyone who'd like their imp of Jack re-filled/topped up/etc (or would like to trade for most of a bottle) and can wait until the summer, direct them to me. :)
Monday, January 21st, 2008 08:44 pm (UTC)
I've still got three imps of Blood Phoenix free; I'll sign you up for one and edit that decant circle (http://torrain.livejournal.com/253273.html) to reflect it in just a sec.

Jack, Jack... pumpkin, nutmeg, peach, and clove. Okay. I'll keep an ear out for people who're interested, or who might be. :)
Tuesday, January 22nd, 2008 12:07 am (UTC)
Excellent. Thanks much on both accounts!

I hate that it costs more to ship in Canada than abroad

Okay, so I am right and not crazy - I always thought I was reading something wrong on the CanadaPost site that it was cheaper to send things out of the country than in it. I wonder why that is?

Not getting in on the order though, because even though I love scents, I'm allergic to most of them getting on my skin.
Tuesday, January 22nd, 2008 02:50 am (UTC)
It's weird. I guess it's easier (or faster) to get them all to the border and out of country then to sort them into the different zones within the country, and then pay someone to deliver them or hold them for delivery.
Tuesday, January 22nd, 2008 12:40 pm (UTC)
That's true, if something is going within Canada, then they have to both send *and* deliver it, while if something is going abroad it is only sent and someone else has to deal with the delivery. I guess I'd never thought of it that way.
