I find it absolutely amazing how a season whose final episode involves the death of about eight-and-a-half characters can be such a complete non-downer.

Finally. Fucking *finally*.

(Is it just me, or is E.B.'s health really going straight to hell in the last few episodes? And would *someone* please teach him to use an inside voice? I did not need to see him parting those leather lips, and I *really* did not need to see the tongue action. At all. Sweet lord.)

Tomorrow, season three.

Also, I cannot think of a better TV or movie example of how a sustainable, sensible Blood Bond should be played than Dan Dority. I really can't. None of that weepy half-assed poutingly-self-destructive passive-aggressive sabotaging bullshit, just loyalty and devotion without sacrificing selfhood, down to and right through the bones.

Eight-and-a-half? I think I need to rewatch that episode...

In addition to what you said about Dan, I've been saying Al makes a great Prince since seeing season one.

Wolcott, Lee, maybe Cy Tolliver, and roughly six of Lee's lackeys.

Ok, I remember that episode now. Did you see that the guy who played Wolcott was the same guy who played Jack McCall?

I did, after John pointed it out. I'm pretty sure I would have missed it elsewise.

I still think my favourite part of the entire season is the hint of a smile on Al's face after he's convinced Trixie to stick it out at the hardware store. If I had to label it, I'd call it parental.

It's really hard to talk to you about Deadwood knowing that you're about a season behind me. Sometimes I want to say something, but then I realize you haven't seen the episode yet, so I don't want to spoil it.

I'm working on catching up, believe me. :)

Holy shit. I never noticed that. Thinking about the two characters, I see it now. That guy needs a fucking Emmy.

Dan keeps it up in Season 3. You have to wonder what he owes to have that sort of devotion.

His life, in every non-tangible sense.

He said it to Trixie when Al wasn't well; before he met Al, he was no more than an animal.

You've talked so passionate about Deadwood, I'll have trouble not buying the DVDs if I see it in a shop.

Now, start watching season three, so I know whether it's as good as the previous ones.

Haven't managed to start yet. Should be able to within the week (or else right after I come back from the trip).

(Rent them first. I love them deeply, but I am cautious about reccommending purchases of entire boxed sets lightly.)

If I do that, it'll be a new first: I've never rented any video/DVD.

Let's hope some channel here decides to broadcast it. And let it be Canvas, they are the only ones who will be able to present it properly (and without breaks).

I am quite obsessed with the show, likely to the point of getting on people's nerves.

If the stars align and life doesn't take a dump on my chest between now and next June/July, I want to run a Deadlands LARP set in Deadwood, getting major inspiration from the show. I've talked to John about it.

The real trick will be getting you to Cowtown to play Jane:) Note that I am basing this totally on your mad RP skills, and not on looks, as you'll need much make-uping to conceal your beauty!

You seem to revile EB for the same reasons that I love him. He's a worm, and I love wormy characters like him.

Does it help any that I love to revile him? He's Benni-ish in his hateability.

John mentioned it. I love Calamity. I cannot speak to travel, but keep me posted?
